As of November 2006, over 3.7 million Meercas are living in Neopia. This makes them the 22nd most popular Neopet.

The Meerca is probably based on a meerkat, or maybe a mouse, with a particularly large tail. They are one of the fastest species, and are known for their love of neggs. They are also to blame for all the stolen fuzzles.

Meercas are energetic, fun loving Neopets who love playing tricks on others. Super fast, and prone to being pranksters. Though many Neopets have tails, Meercas are the only ones with a tail many times larger than their body. They were first released on February 7, 2001.

In the Neopets TCG, Meercas are associated with the element of air.

Famous Meercas include:
* The Meerca in "Meerca Chase"

The hungry Meerca is back - in the new improved Meerca Chase II!!! Race around the screen collecting Neggs of all different colours, from the lowly Happy Negg (yellow) to the super-rare Fish Negg. Avoid the Red Neggs at all cost - run into one of these and it's game over.

* Heermeedjet and Meerouladen

This Meerca brothers are a crafty pair who have been suspected in a number of crimes around Neopia, most notably when someone tried to steal King Coltzan's crown. They have been linked with known criminal Malkus Vile but somehow they always manage to escape before being caught.

They are also featured in the The Great Qasalan Caper Game.

* Chuffer Bob

He is a Meerca Cheat! player. He is a good player, but when he is hungry he can't concentrate, making him fidget. Everyone loves to play against Chuffer Bob because it's easy to tell when he is cheating.

In Cheat!, he is opponent number 4, and of medium difficulty to play against.

* Meuka

Meuka is a Meerca formed compelety from mucus. He is one of the more noteworthy villains of Neopia. Though not a supervillain of Neopia comparable to Dr. Sloth, Meuka is an everpresent villain, making appearances in the Battledome, Defenders of Neopia, and Neoquest II. It took me months to defeat him in Defenders of Neopia in Mission 4. When I finally managed to defeat him, he rewarded me with an Avatar and a trophy. He is also the 1st boss in NQII.

The origins of this mutated Meerca are unknown. Maybe a paintbrush gone wrong, or perhaps a freak created by one of Sloth's hideous experiments. Meuka can be seen slithering around the nastier regions of the Haunted Woods devouring everything in his path. His sharp jaws can cut through the vegetation like butter, and the same goes for young Neopets who wander astray

* Fanetti

Fanetti is the Goalkeeper for Haunted Woods in the Altador Cup 2006. Despite his small stature, this mini netminder's speed and jumping ability have allowed him to become an above average defender. Then again, with defenders in front of you like the ones Fanetti has, it's hard to imagine how he could possibly look bad.

* Wyett Tuggins

Wyett Tuggins is a Left Defender for Lost Desert in the Altador Cup 2006. While not the biggest or fastest defender, this scrappy little fellow has earned a reputation for coming up with key blocks and steals at crucial moments of big games, saving the skin of the Lost Desert squad on countless occasions.

You need to gain Heermeedjet and Meerouladen as Battledone challenges, defeat then and then report back to the Defender Headquarters. (Mission 8 of Defenders of Neopia) -
To get them as battledome challengers Visit the Desert Trapdoor and refresh (a lot) (if you get an old book, ignore it its from an old mystery)
